Andromeda Demining Systems has presented an innovative digital solution designed to improve mine safety awareness and strengthen public access to explosive ordnance risk education in Ukraine: the DEMI chatbot.
DEMI is an interactive educational chatbot developed to provide users with accessible and practical information about mine safety and safe behavior in areas potentially contaminated by mines and other explosive hazards.
The platform is designed to make mine-safety education more accessible to different categories of the population, including adults, children, educators, agricultural workers, and residents of communities affected by the war.
Unlike traditional information campaigns based primarily on printed materials and one-time training sessions, DEMI provides an interactive learning environment in which users can receive information, answer questions, and test their knowledge.
The chatbot explains how to recognize potentially dangerous objects, what to do when an explosive hazard is discovered, how to behave in potentially contaminated areas, and where to seek assistance.
An important feature of DEMI is its ability to adapt educational content to the user’s age and learning needs. This makes it possible to use the platform both for individual learning and as an additional educational tool in schools, businesses, and local communities.
The platform is available free of charge and does not require users to provide personal information or register an account.
The development of DEMI reflects Andromeda Demining Systems’ broader approach to mine action, which combines humanitarian demining, risk education, digital technologies, data analysis, and innovative solutions aimed at protecting civilians.
For Ukraine, where large areas remain affected by explosive contamination, digital mine-safety education can provide an important complement to traditional humanitarian mine-action programs. DEMI is intended not to replace professional mine-action specialists, but to provide civilians with a practical first line of knowledge: recognize the danger, do not approach, do not touch, and report the suspicious object to the appropriate services.
