American company Knightscope has presented the concept of an Executive Protection Agent, combining physical VIP protection with AI, remote monitoring, and continuous threat analysis.
The modern Executive Protection model increasingly follows a clear sequence: threat intelligence → route planning → technical surveillance and control → physical protection → evacuation.
For Ukraine, where executive protection teams have been operating in a war zone, this model has effectively become everyday practice. Intelligence and surveillance, perimeter cameras, AI-based monitoring, and other technologies are already integrated into real-world protection operations, while American companies are now refining similar approaches into a standardized model.
Ukraine has a long-established tradition of professional close protection, but the war has given its specialists unique operational experience and accelerated the adoption of advanced technologies. As a result, international security professionals are increasingly studying Ukrainian practices to adapt and improve their own standards. In this respect, the situation is somewhat similar to the evolution of drone warfare, where Ukraine has become a major source of battlefield innovation.
Modern VIP protection operates under conditions that include missile and drone attacks, curfews, checkpoints, mine threats, and the risk of active combat. Protection teams must also be capable of evacuating people from dangerous areas.
At the same time, high-tech capabilities such as embedded medical personnel and aerial drones deployed with advance teams during VIP movements are already a working formula in Ukraine rather than a theoretical concept.
Technology is transforming the profession, but the core element of Executive Protection remains a highly trained professional capable of making the right decision within seconds.
