On September 11, 21 Polish Sejm deputies submitted an interpellation to Prime Minister Donald Tusk calling for an official Independence March to be organized on the streets of Lviv on November 11, with the participation of local Poles and representatives of the Polish authorities. The first signatory is Dariusz Matycki.
The authors include deputies from Law and Justice (PiS), Confederation, the Confederation of the Polish Crown, and Development Plus, including Michał Moskal, Janusz Kowalski, and Roman Fritz. Their argument is straightforward: November 11 concerns all Poles, including those living outside Poland, including in Lviv.
The idea has already triggered a strong reaction within the Polish political establishment. PSL deputy Marek Bernacki called it “madness” that has gripped the Polish political class and described the initiative as political humbug. At the same time, the Kremlin could use the “initiative” to promote a narrative about the West seeking to divide Ukraine.
