The Defense Forces of Ukraine have seized the tactical initiative on the southern theater of operations, systematically disrupting the enemy’s logistics and forcing Russian forces to withdraw from certain positions.
According to the Andromeda Information and Analytical Center, the key feature of the current phase is the transition from predominantly defensive operations to a combination of defensive actions with localized offensive and counteroffensive operations.
During the winter-spring campaign, Ukraine’s Defense Forces regained control of approximately 460 km² of territory, including more than 100 km² in July. Due to OPSEC requirements, a significant portion of these gains has not been officially detailed.
The rate of Russian advances has decreased by more than half, while personnel losses remain at approximately 32,000 killed and wounded per month.
Every day, Ukrainian units conduct more than 20 reconnaissance, assault, and raiding operations to identify infiltration groups, clarify enemy battle formations, and seize advantageous positions.
Orikhiv Operational Axis
In the Robotyne area, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are conducting active offensive and counterassault operations. Ukrainian UAVs identify logistics routes, command posts, and artillery positions and enable their rapid engagement.
In some areas, the effective fire-control zone extends 15–20 km, significantly complicating enemy logistics.
Near Verbove, Ukrainian units have improved their tactical position and regained control of a number of advantageous positions.
Huliaipole Operational Axis
Russian offensive operations have virtually lost momentum due to layered defenses, effective artillery operations, FPV drones, and continuous fire pressure.
Near Novohryhorivka, Ukrainian units have advanced and established dense fire control over the Temyrivka area, restricting one of the key supply routes of the Russian grouping.
Isolation of the Battlefield
A key element of the campaign has been Battlefield Interdiction. Long-range strike systems, UAVs, and aviation are systematically destroying ammunition depots, fuel bases, command posts, communications hubs, and transportation infrastructure.
On the Crimean axis, strikes against logistics facilities in the Armyansk area have significantly reduced the ability to transfer reserves from temporarily occupied Crimea.
On the Donetsk axis, systematic attacks on railway logistics are slowing the supply of Russian forces. In particular, units of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov” in the Novoaamvrosiivka area have successively destroyed a locomotive, a repair crane train, and a fuel and lubricants depot, significantly complicating the restoration of Russian logistics.
Black Sea Theater of Operations
The Defense Forces continue to strike Russian military, transportation, and fuel-and-energy infrastructure, restricting the enemy’s ability to maneuver, supply its forces, and transfer reserves from Crimea.
The current operational situation indicates that Ukraine’s Defense Forces have seized the tactical initiative on the southern theater of operations.
The systematic destruction of logistics, depletion of reserves, and active localized offensive operations are creating conditions for a further deterioration of the Russian grouping’s operational position in the southern direction.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces have seized the tactical initiative on the southern theater of operations. The Russian grouping is entering a logistical crisis.
